General Information
Reporting to the Manager, Capital Projects you will execute projects relating to natural gas pipeline integrity capital maintenance. You will work closely with Engineering, Construction Services and various other internal groups in the Charleston and Houston office and within the regions. This position will focus on pipeline and facility maintenance projects.
*We anticipate filling this position locally, therefore it is not eligible for cross:border or domestic relocation programs.
The successful candidate might initially be required to spend significant amount of his/her time in the field on various projects gaining valuable experience to be directly applied to specific duties including:
:Guiding and directing the project team through the project life cycle;
:Negotiate deliverables with key internal and external stakeholders;
:Multiple site visits to promote the alignment of TransCanada and Contractors safety culture;
:Perform time and cost management of the project including setting budgets, schedules, managing project cost change control and variance reporting;
:Liaise with HS and E department to promote awareness and understanding of safety and environmental expectations and performance;
:Demonstrate an understanding of the numerous department stakeholders expectations and expert contributions and how they can contribute to the project success;
:Following all aspects of the project management principles with specific emphasis on: Key stakeholder expectations, communication plans, risk management plans, change control and escalation plans, resource plans, procurement plans that includes contract development, schedules and budgets, etc., preparation of formal reports, lead in the continuing development of company Project Management tools and processes, leading program area business reviews to focus team achievement on business objectives;
:Other tasks as required.
Qualifications and Education
:Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;
:Self:starter that can work well within a team environment;
:Ability to quickly understand new processes and related issues;
:Good relationship building skills both internally and externally;
:Demonstrated competence in guiding teams in making quality decisions;
:Comfortable and skilled in influencing others at various levels in the organization;
:Excellent computer skills : experience with MS Project and Microsoft Office;
:Strong communication, analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
:4 year university degree;
:Minimum of 3 years of natural gas or oil pipeline related experience with skills in program/project management including safety, planning, budget preparation, performance metrics, approvals, forecasting, contracts, and risk assessment;
:Recognized Project Management training with PMP certification is a plus.
*This position requires candidates to:
:Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
