Under limited supervision, plans, designs and analyzes data on civil engineering projects such as roads, bridges, maintenance of traffic (MOT), drainage systems and utilities.
* Prepare complex studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports, details and supporting documentation.
* Prepares quantities and construction costs estimates using WVDOH procedures.
* Prepares detailed and complex reports detailing inspections, tests conducted and results.
* Prepares construction drawings such as those needed for highways, structures, MOT, and E&S using WVDOH standards.
* Visit work sites as needed.
* Communicates with supervisor and clients regarding project issues.
* Conducts project meetings.
* Defines scope, schedule and budgets requirements for projects.
* Provide input and support strategy for proposals as needed.
* Support and initiate marketing efforts.
* Maintain task budgets and schedules.
* Prepare permit information for clients.
* Responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training activities
* Willingness to travel up to 25%.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Four Year degree in Engineering or related field.
* Minimum 8 years of experience. A Master s degree can be substituted for 1-2 years of experience.
* Knowledge of WVDOH Road and Drainage Design manuals and WVDOH design standards. Proficient in highway design software, including but not limited to:
o Geopak and/or Inroads
o Microstation
o HY8-desirable
o TR-55-desirable
o Microsoft Office
* West Virginia Professional Engineer or ability to obtain in 6 months.
